Breton dancing
Popular dancing in Brittany which, in the old days, used to be a pleasure shared
by the rural communities in their everyday lives was brought back into fashion,
after the second world war, by the Celtic Clubs. Whether at weddings or after farm
work, any excuse was good enough to live it up and dance : the round dances which
are nowadays the attraction in the "festou noz" were formed in the past to pack
down the earth floors of houses.
The "Dans tro" from central Brittany, the "Dans Leon" from North
Finistère or the "Dans tro Plinn" from the Pays Fanch, the
choreographies of wich are very specific to their lands of origin, are
now part of the common heritage of Brittany wich is continually
perpetuated and renewed by organisations such as the War'l Leur
confederation.
